Who should be checked for glaucoma
- People with family history
- High myopia
- Severe headache
- Severe eye pain with nausea and vomiting
- Blurred vision
- Halos or colored rings around lights
- Eye redness
Symptoms
- No symptoms in early stages
- Gradually, patchy blind spots in your side vision
- In later stages, difficulty seeing things in your central vision
Tests for diagnosis
If the doctor suspects glaucoma based on your history and symptoms, he would advise tests to confirm/rule out glaucoma like checking the eye pressure, your visual field test (Perimetry) and microscopic scanning of your optic nerve head(OCT). Based on analysis of the test reports you will be advised treatment.
